 with 2.6.1 i could never finish a transfer since it would always timeout.
 i reverted to 2.5, which fixed the xfer problem, but now i have this new
 problem where it will xfer a different version of the file. if i have file
 x.html locally, i will upload it, the remote dir will show x.html file,
 but it will be blank.

 it's a html file and it's uploaded as ASCII, as defined in defaults.
