 I believe that Cyberduck used to work this way...

 If you have an item selected in the browser window and hit the "Enter" or
 "Return" key on the keyboard, Cyberduck would go to the folder if it were
 a directory and download (or edit) the file if it were a file. This is
 what I was referring to as "Activation."

 I think you got a lot of complaints about that behavior, judging from
 other feature requests and forum posts. People suggested changing it so
 that using the "Return" key would enter "Inline Rename" mode. Recent
 versions of Cyberduck have implemented that suggestion.

 My suggestion is to have a preference to allow people to use the old
 behavior if they prefer to (which I do because it's much faster).
