 I have HFS+ Case sensitive. When I try to download a file to a folder
 containing "+" in the name ("~/Downloads/GTK+"), the server disconnects
 saying the file does not exists:

 IO Error: /Users/olaf/Downloads/GTK /glib-2.8.6.tar.bz2 (No such file or
 directory)
