Comment:

 I'd like to reopen this ticket, on the basis of usability. The fact that
 the requested feature is implemented in the aforementioned form doesn't
 solve the problem that having the icon list be the "type" sort button is
 rather unintuitive. In my case, I didn't notice it, since (1) there isn't
 a "type" column in the file view, (2) even in the list view, I didn't
 notice it was a column until I read this ticket, and (3) even after having
 read it, I still had to search for it, since it isn't clearly labelled.
 This program is for the most part an excellent program, interface-wise...
 this basic functionality should definitely be present. Adding to it
 shouldn't add too much clutter to the screen. If you're worried about
 clutter, you can implement an ability to choose which columns you want
 present, and make only certain ones on by default.
