#1207: Empty File Not Uploaded (Size = 0KB) To Remote FTP Server When Using
Cyberduck Version 2.8b1 (3178)

Cyberduck Version 2.8b1 (3178) does not upload a file that is empty and
has size 0KB. This is a problem, because there are files that need to be
0KB and actually empty, at least in the Windows universe. This was
working correctly in earlier versions of Cyberduck, but does not appear to
be working now.
I tried several times to upload a file named "Print9x.cat" to a folder on
a remote FTP server, and all that happened was Cyberduck displayed the
usual stuff it does when doing a transfer, reported "0 bytes transferred",
and then that was all that happened--except that the file was NOT actually
uploaded to the remote FTP server.
I think this is a major problem, because it arbitrarily tosses data, which
is not good. Even though the size of the file is 0KB and the file is
empty, (a) it is a file and (b) it has file properties (two of which are
that it is empty and has a size of 0KB).
If there is an empty file with size 0KB on the remote FTP server,
Cyberduck correctly will download it to the Mac OS 10.4.10 desktop, but it
will NOT upload it.
One might suppose that in the Apple universe, folks have sufficient sense
not to use empty files for special purposes (perhaps as semaphores), but
in the Windows universe there are a lot of empty files, most of which are
placeholders that are waiting for Steve Jobs, Jonathan Ive, and company to
have new ideas, which the fabulous folks in Redmond can "borrow" and then
use to fill the empty Windows files . . .
This is a really subtle but gnarly bug in Cyberduck . . .
Thanks!
