Comment:

 I do not fully agree. While the browser windows are not documents per se,
 they still follow the principle of any document based app. It is just the
 context that is different, in this case the browser session. The dot in
 the close button is displayed if you have set in the Preferences to
 'Confirm Disconnect'. The dot in this case indicates that clicking it
 requires the user's attention (the confirmation sheet) the same as if you
 close a unsaved document.
