 The same problem exists for the MultiNet FTP server on OpenVMS:

 NOOP
 200 No-operation OK.
 SYST
 215 VMS MultiNet V4.4(91)

 Note: The version number can change.

 Fetch for Mac OS X is a viable alternative.
