 I've been looking for the a solution for this problem for a long time now
 and now that I read the description of this ticket I finally know, what's
 going wrong.

 I can select the public key file in both, the login dialog and the
 bookmark configuration, but the login fails every time with the message
 mentioned above. In my desperation I even tried to enter the password for
 the key in the username/password  fields in the login dialog, but (as
 expected) it didn't change a thing.
