#6011: Synchronize Folders hangs Cyberduck
-------------------------+-------------------------------------------------

        Type: defect | Status: new
    Priority: normal | Milestone:
   Component: core | Version: 4.0.2
Severity: normal | Keywords: sync, synch, synchronize,
Architecture: Intel | synchronization, hang, hanging, freeze, S3,
                         | remote sync

When using a S3 connection, Cyberduck will hang or lag severely when
attempting to synchronize a local folder with a remote folder.

 To create error condition:
Upload/download files between local and remote folders, such that most are
there (or all files are present, then change the folder by adding or
changing some files on either local or remote directory). Right-click on
remote folder in Cyberduck browser, select "Synchronize." Designate local
folder to be synchronized with, and click Okay. Transfers window indicates
that Cyberduck is downloading remote directory listing. Synchronize may
hang at this point, or keep going.
If if doesn't hang, a prompt window pops up with options for the existing
files (overwrite, etc..). However, the dialog box does not scroll
smoothly, if at all - instead, the scrolling (to examine the multiple
files) will move one increment (one file if scrolling using a scrollwheel,
one page if clicking the scrollbar) and pause for a long time (>180
seconds). This will frequently result in the program hanging (not
responding for >600 seconds). If the program continues to respond, then it
will simply continue this pattern until it stops responding. [Move one
increment, pause for a long time, move one increment, pause...] In the
best-case scenario, I can click cancel or continue and the associate
action will occur. However, this is rare ( <5% of the time).

I have recreated this problem in versions 4.0, 4.0.1, and 4.0.2, on two
MacBook Pro laptops, one 17" and one 13", both with Intel Core 2 Duo
 processors and lots of RAM.

I have recreated this problem with folders containing approximately 20
files, and folders containing more, but we usually deal with folders of
 <999 files.

It would be great to see this implemented, as it would allow us to simply
"sync" our folders instead of manually having to compare them, as we do
now. Yes, I have a donation key.

 Thanks!
