 recommended SOCKS server to use to receive a valid response? We are using
 your client for file transfer of data from research sites around the
 world.  Unfortunately, our organization did not setup the system in
 question.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

 SOCKS settings are read from ''Internet Properties → Connections → Local
 Area Network Settings''. Check what proxy server is set there.
