 I have the same issue as well[[BR]]
 my environment is : OS X 10.8.2[[BR]]
 cyberduck version : 4.2.1[[BR]]

 I've noticed if I reboot the Mac and launch Cyberduck, it works and am
 able to open a file in and external editor.  [[BR]]
 If I were to quite Cyberduck and relaunch it will present the spinning
 beach ball. [[BR]]
 I choose to let it go and wait it out for 5-10minutes, Cyberduck will
 return back to normal with the editor open, but the file is not opened in
 the editor.[[BR]]
 I'm currently not exiting Cyberduck so I can continue to use it, but this
 is definitely a problem with mountain lion.
