 I had the same exact problem. I think I got a solution. Go to the
 preferences, click on the Transfers tab. The general "sub tab" should be
 highlighted. Ther is a Transfer files pull down menu. Click on that and
 select "Use Browser connection".

 Don't ask me why this setting has apparently changed with the 3.3 version
 but I no longer have any lag, just like before.
