#4217: Specify SCP encryption to use for file transfers

Severity: normal | Keywords: scp transfer speed cypher
---------------------------------------+------------------------------------
I have SSH access to a Linux server which is on a 100/100 Mbits network.
Naturally, I often find myself transferring files to and from this server.
My home connection is an 8 Mbits ADSL line.
When I transfer files with scp (be it via Cyberduck or Terminal), my
transfer speed usually varies around 400-500 KB/s. However, if I specify
the cypher to use with SCP (with the -c option) I can get up to 900-1000
KB/s with the same file (in my case, I used arcfour encryption).
So, I would like to request a feature in Cyberduck which allows choosing
 between several SCP cyphers.
More about SCP cyphers and how they relate to transfer speed can be found
in the article "Speed up scp file transfer" by Syed Atif Ali.
