Comment:

 Do you happen to drag the document to edit to the application icon in the
 toolbar or elsewhere? That is not supported; make sure to use the context
 menu (right-click on the file, ''File → Edit...'' or the ''Edit'' toolbar
 button to open with the file with the default editor.

 Reopen the ticket this wild guess is not appropriate.
